Our Key Service Areas

ROPAAS provides expert advisory services designed to strengthen every link in the agricultural value chain.
We partner with various actors to implement sustainable and inclusive models that tackle systemic constraints, reduce yield gaps, and create economic opportunities for small holder farmers.
Digitalized context-specific and inclusive farming systems extension content, addressing multiple challenges of productivity, climate risks and resilience adopted by target countries
  • Inventories existing extension gaps and content in Rwanda
  • Contextualize, digitize and domesticate AGRA’s farming systems-specific content to respond to the needs of SHFs, anchor farms, and food basket sites
  • Develop/strengthen digital extension repository systems with appropriate institutions IMINAGRI/RAB).
  • Building capacity of both private and public sector extension institutions to enrich, access and utilize digital repository.
Sustainable last-mile delivery infrastructure for knowledge and input systems
  • Map, profile and characterize existing and impactful last mile delivery models that embrace entrepreneurship skills development (especially for the women and youth), for creating job opportunities.
  • Develop, adapt, mainstream and scale profitable business models for sustainable agriculture input and output in existing value chains e.g. fortified manures, etc.
  • Enhance entrepreneurship skills of VBAs and agro-dealers/SMEs for market innovation through digitized archetype-based business models
  • Strengthen, and operationalize a network (Community of Practices) of AEAS providers especially VBAs and Agro-dealers, focusing on business for promoting bundled services for the last mile and enhancing the inclusion of Agro-dealer Associations
  • Support the youth career/business incubation for AEAS through multi-stakeholder partnerships.
Governments and other institutions adopting the private sector led extension models
  • Strengthen Agriculture extension sub-sector working group;
  • Document and advocate for the incentives, policies and legislative options that support private sector-led extension for sustainable last mile delivery of bundled services through business models
  • Support the establishment of Rwanda Council of professionals in Agricultural Advisory Services
  • Advocacy dialogues at national level to enhance the implementation of CAES and other extension policies/strategies
